Streaming Around Your School Network
When most people think of streaming, they think about web based
radio stations, but streaming technology actually has another
really important application for School Radio.
Traditionally, if you wanted to distribute your radio stations
to key areas in your school, you would need to employ a company to
install a network of speakers which can be very costly and
disruptive. This type of system is also difficult to expand or
alter in the future.
Streaming technology presents a very appealing alternative. Why
not stream your radio station around your schools network using the
IP infrastructure (i.e. your computer network) that is already in
place.
This would allow you to:
- Distribute audio around your school using existing
infrastructure.
- Your radio station would be available on every PC and MAC.
- Your radio may be accessible by interactive white-boards.
- Play audio through speakers in key areas (using streaming
decoders).
- Flexible, expandable audio distribution system.
The diagram below shows a typical setup.

We are happy to work with your IT department to provide
technical advice on how best to use streaming to distribute
audio around your network. Contact our sales team for more.

Customer Comments
"My school in Bridlington has used a small
studio package for over two years now and to date it has far
exceeded our wildest expectations. The children use the radio
station daily, not only around school and playground, they also
stream live onto the internet. They all thoroughly enjoy
using the station, which has now become second nature. Children as
young as Year 3, now schedule and broadcast programmes from
it".
